Being a new mom is fun and heart-warming. It gives you a new sense of purpose because now you’re responsible for a little human.

However, most of the time, the desire to take care of everything and meet your baby’s needs means that you are very likely to neglect yourself. This is true, especially for most moms.

I mean, you end up caring for everyone else but yourself. To be honest, that is never okay. We know it’s not planned, but it just happens. It’s important to be conscious of it and start putting yourself first.

If you’re worried about how to take care of yourself as a new mom, don’t be. In this article, I’ll give you some great mom self-care ideas for new moms. Hopefully, you will discover something that works for you.

Are you ready to jump in? Let’s get started.

1. Make Your Home A Safe Haven

The first mom self-care tip in this article is to make your home a safe paradise for yourself. You will most likely spend more time at home now than at any other place. It can be extremely exhausting. You don’t want to always be tired.

You can make a simple space in your house. A place where you can relax, reflect, and relieve stress. It can be set up in a small space in your living room, bedroom, bathroom, or anywhere in your home.

Believe it or not, my place of peace was the bathroom. I felt like I could have my ‘me time’, run a bath, and just lay back while listening to spiritual music and center myself.

Simply make a space in your home you can go to in order to escape all stress or worries as a mom. You can give yourself permission to remove the mommy hat and put on the woman’s hat. There are different ways you can relax like reading a book, taking a bubble bath, exercising, or even watching your favorite show.

Doing these little things will allow you to relax more easily and become a better person, as you carry out your motherly responsibilities.

2. Pamper Yourself

Best Selfcare Tips

As a new mom, it’s important to do things that make you feel good, like getting your hair and nails done. You can also go to a spa and get a massage.

As a mom, I try to keep stress levels down and one of my favorite ways to unwind is to get a massage at the spa.

Most moms are on a budget so I like to get massages done at the reflexology places where I can get a full body massage without overspending my coins.

When it comes to pampering yourself don’t feel pressured to spend a lot of money. Even if you don’t want to do the things above, make sure you take some hours, if not the whole day, and dedicate it to yourself. You should do what makes you feel good.

You can get a facial and learn a new regimen that will have your skin glowing. Your esthetician can make suggestions on your skin regime and advise you on what’s best for your skin and body.

You can go shopping and get some outfits that will make you feel good. Set aside time to go out with the girls and just relax. Hey, you can make it a pampering day for you and your friends.

As a mom, you deserve it. So pamper away, sis!

3. Make The Most Of Your Baby’s Sleep Schedule

Best Selfcare Tips

You already know that your baby’s sleep schedule will most likely differ from what you anticipated. Especially if you have a newborn.

So, whenever the opportunity arises and your little bundle of joy decides to sleep, try to do as much as you can within the time or try to catch some sleep with your little baby.

To achieve the best results, plan what you want to do during these times, so you can keep up with it.

The bottom line is that you must try to maximize your baby’s sleep times. Don’t let a single second go to waste. It won’t be perfect, but when things don’t go as planned or according to schedule, do what feels right to you.

4. Take Care Of Your Body

It’s important to stay hydrated and make sure to be more conscious of what you eat. After a baby, it’s okay to have a cheat day, you earned it. It’s important to go back and make a plan for what you want to eat less of.

Combine a balanced diet with fun exercise:

If you don’t want to be tempted to eat it, make sure it’s nowhere to be found. I know not everyone likes to exercise. So it’s okay to go for a nice walk or pull up YouTube or Tiktok videos that get you dancing.

I loved learning new dances on TikTok. It was exercise, and it felt good to learn something new. It made me feel sexy and confident.  I recently took a pole dancing class and it was fun as well as great excercise for you. You can even hire a personal trainer to help you get in shape or schedule days to go to the gym.

  1. Love this idea of planning what you will do for yourself while your baby is sleep. I just started a new sleep schedule for my almost 2 year old for 7:30pm. It allows me to have more time for myself and get to bed at a good time so I’m well rested!
